Hi

I need some legal advise please.

I took my vehicle to a registered Mechanic to have my front discs replaced.

This was 4 months ago, he collected the vehicle from my premises and drove it to his premises. He let an experienced person work on my vehicle which is a Toyota Prius, he proceeded to make a mess with my vehicle. After a month I questioned the mechanic and asked how he could let an inexperienced person work on my car which now has the brake system completely locked due to a blockage. He insisted on how dare I question this, as he himself worked on the vehicle.

He then proceeded to block me and have no contact with, by the way he was paid in full upfront before beginning work on my vehicle.

My husband was there on numerious occasions to check on the work on the vehicle, there just seemed to be ongoing problems occuring, then he was just not there and no work was being done on the vehicle. He then advised that my vehicle is now costing him money etc.. and then yes he admitted,  the young Appy working for him had infact messed up my vehicle.  Numerous times my husband would attemp to contact him, he didn't answer the calls and just didn't respond. 4 months down the line, my husband started getting demanding and he blocked him.

I eventually went onto Legal SA Forum, where a gentleman assisted my, he contacted the mechanic on my behalf and the mechanic got quite rude with him. I then received a mail from the mechanic yesterday stating I must fetch my vehicle off his premises and I require a lowbed tow truck to remove it, and for each day it sits he will then charge me!!!!

What recourse do I have as the vehicle was driven there, surely it needs to be resored by him to driving status and not immobile and partly dismantled ( pipes etc that have been taken apart and not put together, a hybrid battery that is now not connecting to start the car due to him never starting the vehicle to ensure the hybrid battery didn't go flat, He then also said that battery needs to be replaced. On contacting Toyota they advised that a hybrid main battery very seldom goes. This is my fourth prius and I have never replaced that on any of them, and believe me 2 of the vehicles had done over 300 000km.

I am not at all impressed, he serviced my previous prius and was always fantastic, hence I have taken my vehicles there, so I never expected this to now happen!
