Question posted in the General Law category relating to Mpumalanga
My wife and I were offered employment after a successful interview via Skype.
We were sent the offer and accepted the position. We had another interview on the same day and we were also offered this position. We however decided to rather accept the first offer and turned down the second one and resigned from our current jobs.
On inquiring our start date, our prospective employer told us South Africans think they are entitled and we are not allowed to question them. They withdrew our offer and left us unemployed. We were supposed to start in July.
The owners are based in the UK but the business, a lodge, is in South Africa.
Do we have any legal claim with regards this case as we turned down another opportunity and also resigned after receiving a concrete job offer and conditions in writing.
