Question posted in the Property Law category relating to Eastern Cape
Hi.
I stay in a complex where the complex was on a central electricity meter from 2009 to jan 2012 (I was unaware of this). Ekurleni municpality noted that they have under billed during this period (I assume that these were estimated reading). Today I obtain a letter from our body corp stating that I will be liable for this electricity bill. I bought a property Dec 2012. (where electricity meters was installed in each unit)
I feel that this is unfair because I did not own the property during this this. How can I pay for electricity I did not use
Please can somebody give me guidance
