Question posted in the General Law category relating to North West
Hi,
I need some legal advice regarding a business idea I wish to persue. We have a couple of very strong boreholes and I wish to know if it's legal to start a water service where I can sell the water for drinking and garden use to people in the area. If possible at all, what would I have to do in order to start this?
Thank you in advance

Hi there,
I see that you haven't made a payment for the question, but I'm going to assist you a little. If you want to ask a follow-up question, please make the required payment.
No, it is not legal. If you have a borehole you are entitled to draw enough water from it for your reasonable personal use only. You are not allowed to sell the water. In order to sell the water, you need to get a licence from Government and you need to test your water and possibly treat your water, before you sell it. Look on the side of water bottles, you'll see that it lists minerals, etc. That information comes from the tests.
