Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng
I Have a family member who is staying in a house on my property with his wife and children. The wife is abusive to my husband and myself and has made life on our property unbearable. They have not paid electricity at all and we have told them we would like them to leave. Our son refused to sign a lease and has extended the size of the piece of land he and his family are living on without our permission.
We have told them we want them to leave and its over a year now and as the owners of the property we have been told they have the right to live there for as long as they like. We feel our only way out of this would be to sell our property, which we have had for 20 years, so that we can have peace of mind.
Is there any other way in which we can have them removed from our property?
Yours faithfully,
Property owner
