Question posted in the Consumer Protection Law category relating to Gauteng

My name is Simphiwe Thomas a Multichoice Customer, I was called by OnAir Tv on behalf of Multichoice and offered me a package of two Explorer 2 Decoders and keep my current channels at a price of R320.00 for 24 months. I asked the lady “will I pay more as I am currently Paying R539 at the time will the R320.00 be added to the payment she said NO, I’ll only pay R320.00”. And I asked the lady more than 3 times this question she kept saying only R320.00 will be the only amount I pay And that was a lie they were trying to make a sale based on lies.

After the installation while I was at work, I came to realise when I got home that my channels have changed and called OnAir and they transferred my call to Dstv and after that I saw the Price Hiking all the way up to R744.00.

I contacted Multichoice after I saw the problem and said they will cancel my subscription but the hardware I must contact their third party OnAir and they are not answering my calls anymore.

I contacted DSTv and they gave me a reference number to that they will resolve the matter ever since my matter is not resolved and sent a letter from my company stating I’m in financial distress the amount stated on the app I won’t have due to The Lockdown. And please contact me soon to resolve the matter of the price hike and misleading me into the contract with false advertising , no contact has been made from either party.

Please help as this may have a huge financial impact on me. And others which were thinking their getting a good deal.

How can I get out of the lies they have sold me?

Thank You And Have A Lovely Day

Kind Regards

Simphiwe Thomas
