Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng
I am renting a flat in Primrose. The landlord agreed that I can pay off the deposit monthly at R200. I only paid my Rental on the 7th, but he already cut my electricity on the 5th. Everything is paid up in full, but he has cut off my electricity again today. He now demands that I pay him a deposit equal to 1 and 1/2 months' rental, or I should move out. What can I do please advise. I have been in the building for four months now. He made me go into another flat in the building while he was waiting for the tenant to move out of the flat I applied for. I cannot afford to lose my refrigerator contents again. I am supporting my disabled sister, who get a grant, and does not work. Please help.
