Question posted in the Immigration Law category relating to Western Cape

Hi there, I was wondering about my situation. So i was born in Bloemfontein, but i grew up in Lesotho and I only have a Philippines passport. I studied in cape town for three years and graduated in 2013 and i am now doing a work internship using an exchange permit which is only vlaid for a year. My inquiry now is, since i was born in south africa and have a south african birth certificate, can i qualify to apply for a south african ID? or what other options do I have because I really would like to become a permanent resident and stay abit longer in south africa but because of the new laws implemented last year May, things have been a bit difficult.

What would you advise me to do? There are people who say i am entitled to apply for an ID and some say not, so I was wondering if you could help guide me.

Regards,
Johanna Marie
