Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng

Hi there.

I am seeking urgent assistance to get my deposit back and not pay for the damage to the linvyl flooring of my old unit. It seems to be hearsay that the floors were not scratched and they sent me pictures of the floor being scratched after I moved out.

Things have gotten very ugly between the landlord and I from their side due to mix ups with the agency not telling them I was moving out. The landlord even threatened my relationship and gave out private information to try use against me to my partner. As you can understand, it is in my understanding that they want to find issues and they have quoted me around R8000 to fix the flooring which exceeds my whole deposit. I want to know how I may fight  this please.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
