Question posted in the General Law category relating to Western Cape
Hi there
I need some legal advice/assistance please. A few months ago I was looking to apply for a loan only. I registered with a company by the name of Loan Detector SA. However after registering I found that it wasn't actually a site to apply for loans but a site charging R399 for loan findings.
They first charged me R399 for the once off fee, and have been deducting R99 per month since for subscription fees. I immediately stopped the debit orders from going off my account because its a service I never even used or legally signed to use. I've tried calling their offices and no one answers or no one assists. Now I'm being harassed by their sister company "Lifestyle Legal" who are sending me notices saying they are going to blacklist if I don't make payment of R1500! The harassment hasn't stopped, I get 2-3 mails every single day.
I went onto Hello Peter and I've seen a lot of complaints about this company and I'm really starting to worry that I'm a victim of fraud. I've seen several people stating they aren't paying this outstanding amount that Lifestyle Legal is harassing them about. But to be honest I can't afford to be blacklisted, do I make this payment even though I haven't used the service?
I'm young and the sole breadwinner of the house - I can't afford to pay off R1500! I honestly need some advice and I've seen this corporation has been mentioned several times about fraud. I need to know how I can stop this because I won't be paying R1500 for something I never even used.
As of today I’ve received 2 SMSes stating they will be blacklisting me if I don’t pay up the funds along with more emails. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore and I really need some help. Do I hand over the money? I can’t be blacklisted, my family depends on me.
Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
