Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng
Hi. I am currently residing with two other tenants and one of them has gien notice on Saturday that he will be moving out with immediate effect. I have notified the owner of this and advised that we will move out at the end of Aug and have also requeste that he use the deposit of R10000 which was paid in advance for the rent for Aug and i would pay the utility bill that is now due, as well as the bill for before we leave. he has refused advsing that we need to stay on until the lease ends. Rental is R8550 I am unable to pay the rent and i have notified him that its not fair on him or us to stay there as the rent wont be getting paid in full, or even half as one tenant has already moved out. Please help me as i do not want to be listed as a bad tenant going forward for when i eventually find another place. As come end of Aug, i will move in with my dad. Kind regards, Chauntel Gideon
