Goodday
I am in need of some assistance.
My wife was recently retrenched and we were unable to pay our rent for 2 months although the water and lights rates and taxes were paid by us.
Upon hearing my wife was retrenched the agent immediately gave us notice stating that the house was sold and we must vacate. My wife is now employed as from 1 November and we have indictaed to the owner that we wish to continue renting there and pay the full rental as well as make up the arrears with suitable arrangements. He agreed to this but on negotiations has changed his mind and now wants us out by tomorrow.
Do I have any legal rights. We are unable to move at such short notice. There are various discrepancies between us and the agent/landlord of house not being maintained etc.
What can I do now. I have Kids. I dont want people coming to the house threatening us. Can I refuse the agent/landlord entry into the property while my family is there?
