Question posted in the Family Law category relating to KwaZulu-Natal
My daughter is 11 years old and I share custody of her with her father. She lives primarily with me, but according to our parenting plan she spends one day a week and every second weekend with him, and half the school holidays. He has expressed an interest in applying for a Diversity Visa for the USA (Green Card Lottery) and wants a photo of her to include with his application. I am unhappy about this as I can not see any situation where I would agree to him taking her out of the country where I reside permanently and I completely disagree with his assertions that things would be better for her in the United States. What can I do to prevent him from continuing with this?I would be happy to allow her to visit him should he emigrate, but I cannot accept the idea of him removing her from me and the rest of her extended family here in South Africa.
