Question posted in the Consumer Protection Law category relating to Gauteng

Hi, I bought a car from a dealership on Monday and they did not disclose to me that tge car had a problem. When I drove the car on the highway. I got stuck. I told my husband to return the car and the owner of the dealership asked Him if He wanted another car or get his money back or He can give him some money back then he can fix the car. So to my surprise He accepted to take small amount back from the dealer to fix the car himself. Unfortunately fixing the car was more than the money they gave back. So yesterday, I went back to them my self and asked for my money back then they refused to take the car back and refund the cash because they said they already solved the issues with my husband therefore they will not give the cash back but they can sell the car for us on their floor. I am so frustrated because I bought the car for business and I cannot afford to fix it. I bought the car very expensive. I don't know what to do because I don't have transportation. Please advise

Hi there,

I see that you haven't made a payment for the question, but I'm going to assist you a little. If you want to ask a follow-up question, please make the required payment.

If the dealer KNEW that the car had a problem, and didn't disclose it to you, then you can legally cancel the sale and get your money back.

But if the dealer thought that he had fixed the problem, and you bought it, and the problem was still there, then you need to fix it yourself.
