Question posted in the General Law category relating to KwaZulu-Natal
I have requested my file from my attorney, however he has advised that the file has been destroyed. The last record in the file was made in January 2016 and he has emailed me to say that their obligation at the time was to keep the record for only 3 years.
I advised him to provide a reason for the file being destroyed as the LPC rules state that files should be kept for 7 years.

They are supposed to keep the file for 5 years, and 7 years for a conveyancing file.
