My girlfriend has attempted suicide and is currently in hospital, but apparently the police are treating this as a serious case. Will she be prosecuted/sent to prison?

Hi there,
No, she can't be found guilty because suicide isnt a crime. I don't know why the police are treating it as a serious case. How did she try to kill herself? Was she driving a car at the time or something? Did she harm or nearly harm someone else?
