Question posted in the General Law category relating to Eastern Cape
Good afternoon I just need some legal advice ,I'm an electrician on Sunday afternoon I was busy working on a generator for a client then I went out to get lunch, was stopped by a police vehicle and told to get out of my bakkie they then searched the bakkie and found copper cables tht I was busy installing onsite, they then said I stole the cables ,I and my workmates were then arrested on the spot, even if I pleaded tht cables belonged to client business,I suggested we go to the client premises to verify as there are also cameras in the business but to no luck,we were humiliated and taken to the station where we spent the night,my question is why we were not given opportunity to prove tht cables were from client premises.
The police and security personnel claimed cables belonged to City power,we stripped a substation or something which was a lie,why we were not taken back to client business as it less than a kilometer away
