Question posted in the Consumer Protection Law category relating to Gauteng
Good day
I have an agreement for a debt collection company and I am paying off an old account. This has been in place for years. The debt company started sending me emails with the incorrect name on the email. The name is completely unfamiliar to me. This happened in 2020 and has happened a number of times since. I have answered each email with a query on the name. I have also not opened the documents as this is an obvious security risk. I have made payment as arranged since arrangement. I have to date not receieved an answer on what the reason that they are addressing an unknown person on my account and to my email. What do I do?
Also do I have the right to request a deduction in the debt amount and on what grounds?
