Question posted in the Criminal Law category relating to Gauteng
I caught shoplifting at shoprite it was my first time as the claim the things was 1200 but i dont think it was that much but i went to court and was let go with a warning and given a date to go back so i would like to know will i go to jail or pay a fine

Hi there,
I see that you haven't made a payment for the question, but I'm going to assist you a little. If you want to ask a follow-up question, please make the required payment, even if it is R150 or R200.
You were obviously released on a warning to appear in court again. They are going to prosecute you. You stand a risk of getting a criminal record, and either going to jail or a fine. The criminal record thing is the problem.
If you want advice on getting around the criminal record issue, please let me know.
