Question posted in the General Law category relating to Western Cape
Hi, have had a current and credit card account with FNB 50 years..excellent credit rating. Had serious financial difficulties last year, stopped paying card end April. I am in Europe and sent many emls, spent a fortune on Int. calls trying to find a solution to my situation and got zero help, just shuffled from dept to dept. They now closed my current account and want settlement of 160k on visa card. Have no funds or equity in SA and cannot repay loan. FNB legal informed me, even if I settled the credit card I would have to re apply for another one and chances are I would not get one. Not employed in SA , no assets etc..So, I'm paying massive compound interest and then no chance of another credit card...What are my options? I always try to do the right thing, but right now financially my hands are tied...Should I declare myself bankrupt...let the debt slide or other? Any advise would be welcome
