So I have a friend who ran into some issues with money due to medical expenses - due to this he asked his father if he could stay at his house until he got back on his feet. His father agreed to let him stay rent-free for a couple of months so he could get back on his feet. Before he was there even a month his father tried to extort him for rent, which already violated their agreement, wanting to charge him R5000 a month for just a room. He then cut off the electricity and water and has now filed for a restraining order against his son using some rather angry whatsapp messages between the two of them as motivation. My friend now has a court date set. What would you advise he do?
