Good day

I had a gym contract for 6 months where upon the salesman said I could extend after the 6th month otherwise I must write a cancellation letter. At the end of the 6th month I cancelled my contract, as arranged. I was involved in a vehicle accident where I had no other option as to replace my vehicle - vehicle debt which I did'nt bargained on (the accident was caused by a Rand Civils driver).

I notified the gyn about this as well as they harrassed me to continue with the gym contract. I eventually ended up going to their offices to explain my situation and that I could not afford and do not want to carry on with a gym contract. They assured me that the contract was terminated.

After a couple of months they started harrassing me for payment - the gym's debt recovery section - I explained everything to them - contract terminated and and and, to no avail.

Now, after about 2 years, I received an e-mail re a court order for outstanding money. What am I to do now? I really cannot afford to pay the "astronomical amount" at all and seeing that the contract was terminated, why should I pay for services I did'nt use at all?

I am not the first person with this problem - a lot of Edge Fitness clients have the same problem - I cannot afford to be black listed or have judgements. I am trying to rebuild my credit history

Please help

Thank you
