Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng
On 21 February 2014 I was stationary in a single lane at a stop sign and as I started to drive off making a left turn,the lady behind me drove into the back of my vehicle (she drove behind me as I left the stop sign), unfortunately ive only got a learners permit, her lawyers sent me a letter of demand with all the expenses that it cost to fix her car saying I need to pay R20000 in the next 7days or they will proceed by way of Summons, in my defence there is no police report attached and I don't understand how I can be held liable as she drove into me, thus not following a safe distance from the vehicle infront of her, and she left the stop at the same time as I did although she was behind me. Please advise me what options do I have?
