Is there any form of common law marriage in SA?

My fiances father passed away amd the woman he was living with for the last +/- 5 yrs Now claims that everything he has in her house is therefor hers and even refuses to grant the youngest child age 20 (not hers) to gain access to the property and collect her things even her collage books so that she can go to class. Does she have that right?
