Hi.
I was involved in a collision earlier today. I clipped an elderly woman's real tail light and ended up in bricks totally damaging my car. I was going under 40km in a residential area. I had a safe following distance. The elderly lady had breaked dead in the middle of the road and indicated after the fact. I attempted to steer clear and apply breaks once I saw the break lights go on but was too late. The elderly lady now wishes to claim damages from me. Is this a matter of dispute as I do not see how i had any wrong doing in the collision?
I was then towed by a tow truck company under false pretenses. I had refused towing but the driver had reassured me countless times that the other driver has insurance and is willing to pay for the towing services. I later found that they had lied to the other driver saying the exact same thing. They now refuse to disclose the location of my car as well as a price to release my car. When trying to contact them I spoke to a Richard who then admitted that he has no idea why this would happen but still outright refused to give any information. I have gone to the police who has advised me to wait 24 hours to then file a criminal case of theft. I would like to know if there is any further action I could take? As I need my car to commute to and from work and I could have had it fixed in the meantime.
I would like to know if there is any further action I can take regarding both the accident and the towing company?
I am a 22 year old male. The other driver and 84 year old female. There were eye witnesses as well as my girlfriend who was in the collision with me. My mother and girlfriend were both present and spoke to the tow truck representatives assuring us under false pretenses.
