Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng
Hi< need help with a labour issue. I own a small business and have an employee working for about 7 years now. Problematic in the sense that too many no shows for work. She is sickly and is sick every month. She also take days off every month like 2-3 for other family issues ( kids sick etc) Goes to doctors often with no prior notice other then letting me know the morning she is already not at work. Has so far not received any warnings from me. She is rude, abrupt and has called a union official to see me twice as her annual leave was denied last easter.I would like to issue a warning for too many days where she does not come in. Can I issue a warning and also wanted to change her perm contract to a part time one and offer her to come in 3 out of 6 days at 1/2 a salary? Can i legally do that? Her non attendence effects business!!!! I have addressed this with her previosuly and she only wants 1 day off a week which is not suitable for me.
