Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to North West

Hi, I rented a house from an estate agent and the contract came to an end on 30 June 2019. The initial deposit paid was now allocated to cleaning of the property (although cleaned by us), municipal services, etc. The municipal bill was included in the monthly invoice of the agency and paid as billed. During February 2019 it was found that the electrical services was overcharged by the municipality by means of reading estimations since Sept/Oct 2018. Photos of the meter with readings was haanded to the municipality on which a credit were passed onto the bill after an average monthly account were calculated based on the beginning reading and the then current reading. So the account credit covered the total April 2019 and part of May 2019 services bills. A person responsible for the services accounts appointed by the estate agent was monthly paid and he did not do his job properly.

Now the estate agent claim that I owe them R 2293.72 as they can't change their invoices. According to my summary, they owe me R2159.01.

I have received an e-mail today stating that this account will be handed over if not paid.

What am I to do as I have proof that the municipal bill was incorrect and a credit passed on the services and not passed on the agent's invoice?

Please please assist in advice.
