Question posted in the Family Law category relating to Gauteng
Hi
I need to know what my options are (etc) regarding custody of my children. My twins are 7, almost 8 months old now with one 12 year old half brother. I'm currently engaged and not married but the family dynamic has changed to the point where I do not think I can do this relationship anymore. The only thing at the moment that's keeping us together is my baby boys.
My fiancé lost custody of her first son to her grandfather because among other things, was admitted for drug use. Since which time she had been in 4 rehabs.
She briefly relapsed on drugs when the twins were 4 months old and I have paid for almost everything, on my side I pay for the baby food (formula and purity foods) the medications, the medical aid, the bathing stuff, the dummies, the drinking bottles etc etc.
Her dad has contributed out of his business but not my fiance. He buys nappies on a monthly basis and pays our rent/his bond for his house. None of this reflects on her payslip or anything.
She has been increasingly hostile and admitted to me about relapsing, losing her mind, losing her son because of drugs (since I started dating her, her dad has let us look after her son again).
I'm not sure how my chances look for getting sole custody of my baby boys and I get very scared at the thought of them not only being raised by her and her sometimes very hostile state of mind and attitude but further get scared of the thought that I will continue paying only to see them every second weekend (I would ofcourse pay if need be, I want my boys to have the world).
My aim is to give these boys every single opportunity and lesson with morals and values and love to be the best people they can be for themselves and others.
