Hi there,
I bought a vehicle via Gumtree in June if this year.
After checking out papers and confirming that the bakkie is legal I purchased it in cash for R65000.
6 months later the cops pulled my driver over and said the vehicle is wanted in a case.
After informing me of the incident I went home to fetch the registration papers and went to the police station in Tableview. After talking to Mr Lombard the investigating officer it was brought to my attention that the bakkie was in fact purchased by my seller one day before selling it to me. The only difference is that the guy who sold me the bakkie made a fraudulent payment to the seller he bought it from.
As such a case was made and in return we ended up where we ended up... At the police station. The bakkie is now in possession of the police.
I need to know am I facing the prospect of being the loser in the case or is it the neglegance of the very first seller that will lead to him losing the bakkie?
