Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng
I lost someone's phone and he wants it back. Unfortunately I am unable to repay it as I am unemployed and currently on a learnership that pays R1800.00 per month. I spend R1200.00 a month for transport to the campus and the rest of the money is for food and toiletry as I stay alone. When the incident happened, I promised I'd pay the phone back and he made me sign a contract for he was in urgent need of the phone. Unfortunately I couldn't meet the deadline and now he wants to take legal advice. I couldn't meet the deadline because I thought I was going to take on the phone on contract and unfortunately I couldn't qualify for unknown reasons. I want to get his phone back as soon as a plan surfaces as I am responsible for it's loss but now he is threating me. What are my options?
