Question posted in the Criminal Law category relating to Free State
Yesterday I recieved a call from a Police officer telling me there is a warrent out for my arrest for Fraud I commited in 2017. He said someone paid money into my account in 2017 but I have no clue what he is talking about this is the first I have heard of anything or anyone contacting me regarding this. Even the bank did not contact me in the past few years nor have I been hiding.
I am 63 years old and I do honest work for a living.
Can they just arrest me without ever properly telling me why or 3 years later even though I have never even been informed of anything ?

Yes, they can arrest you without telling you. But then they will need to formally charge you with theft, or whatever. Then, when you appear in court, you can obtain all of the evidence that they have against you. Probably only then, will you have a better understanding of what the case is all about.
