Good I would just like to know what my legal rights are regarding my nephew who i  am raising since his birth. This year he will be 3 and only knows me as his mother. I also do have a daughter of my own who is 11 years old. I treat the both equally. The boy is financially dependend on me even though his biological father supports him but never visits him. His mother and  father is not married so they both live seperately. The reason i took resposibility of the child is when she gave birth to him she threatened us to walk away while still in hospital and leave him there. I then had to spoeak to the hospital staff so that they could discharge them earlier and i took them home with me. For the first month things seemed ok but she never bonded with the baby then one night i came from work and she asked me for a R1 for sweets then she disappeared without the baby and only returned after a couple of months.Whenever my mother would aske her when she will be returning she would threaten us with the child. Then it came that she took the baby without any clothing and a few hours later she phoned to say we must fetch the baby she cant handle his crying. I fetched him and since then ive never let go of him. I then went to the social workers to seek help reagarding her to use the baby as a get away card whenever she neeeded anything or wanted to run away. They then called us both in where they questioned her and found that she dont really want to look after the baby but still want to be free they then plkaced him in my care. But my problem it wasnt done through court or anything just an verbal agreement. So legally the child is still hers but she doesnt contribute a cent to the child nor did she ever accompany him for any of his vacinations. When he's sick i need to stay out of work to take care of him and sit at the state hospital as i cant add him to my medical aid due to that im not his legal guardian. Shes currently working as a part time loan agent for a company that gets paid weekly and lives with the new boyfriend who has four children of his own. So when ever she gets a salary she forst need to see to the boyfriend and his childrens needs and when i ask her when is she doing something for her own son she always come up with an excuse or just ignore me. I recently enrolled him in a creche and she agreed to give me half the fee every month its been two months now and she hasnt contributed a cent yet samet old thing she dont have money. What i would like to know what is my legal rights regarding this baby. How do get him on my medical how do i get him all the benifits my daughter has. When do come to him she never spend time with she just sit on her phone and complain hes rude and naughty child.
