Question posted in the Insurance Law category relating to Western Cape

My home burnt recently but not very bad. Although the smoke damage has left the inside halls all damaged and the ceiling and the cupboards. I do not have building insurance as the house is not mine, however, I have been staying in the house for the past 8years since being divorced, as well as 4years of my marriage together. The owners of the house hasn't contacted me since, which makes me liable to repair the damages, what do I do?
