Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng
Good afternoon,
I would appreciate any advice or guidance.
My question - is my employer allowed to deduct negative leave from my last salary?
Our employment contract and HR policy on the intranet is very vague about the subject. I am about to resign and am currently in a negative leave balance. The negative balance is due to our office closing over the December / festive period (from 16.12.2022 to 09.01.2023) so im essence "forced leave". I have discussed my intention to resign with our HR and they advised that I will he liable for the leave. It amounts to almost R24,000.
Hoping for any advice or guidance.
Thank you,
Hendry
