Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng

My daughter worked on a part time basis for a school with no contract or conditions of employment in place. She ran their Uniform shop and contolled and ordered stock. During a busy period in January a sum of money disappeared from the shop and despite all attempts to trace, the money remained missing. It is assumed that these monies were stolen by persons unknown. After meetings with head of school she found her position untenable and resigned with immediate effect. She subsequently received a letter from the school demanding payment of the amount within 14
days failing which legal ction would be taken against her.Their reason for this is that responsibility for the shop was
hers. She has acknowledged responsibility but as she canot afford to settle the amount she attempted to make repayment arrangements over a period of time but they would not agree to this and insisted that payment be made in full. Please can you help and advise what her options are?
