Hi
My husbands ex wife is demanding an increase in maintenance every year but has not been stated in the letter that she is entitled to an increase. She makes up her own increase according to her. There are two children and we are paying R3000 a month as per the letter he received. R1000 per child and half school fees. We are only a one income family at the moment. We are planning to go to the USA for 10 months for work purposes but will be returning to SA employment the following year but have to look for employment when we get back.
My question is what is the annual increase for maintenance and if she decides to take us to court would that effect us going overseas.
And are we entitled to request receipts to see what she spends the maintenance on. When they come to visit they have the same clothes with holes and are to small and there toothbrushes are so old. That is just an example that our money should be spent on as she says she buys clothes every month but the kids said they only get clothes once a year .
My husband was not even present when they got divorced as he was away at the time and could defend himself in the as she carried on making her own rules with how things should be done. And the copy of maintenance letter has spelling get errors and she has changed the document a year ago without us been present.
