Hello,

I stayed at campus key (Potchefstroom Campus) for a the duration of 2023. According to their policy, I had to pay R5000 deposit and the first month of rent since it was a 12 month contract and I only moved in in the first week of February. According to their policy, the security deposit is refundable subject to any damage or wear in the room.

Fast-forward to the end of the year. I paid the 12 months rent, but moved out in November. Their policy dictates that I have to book a checkout inspection for the day that I will be moving out so the room can be inspected and any deductions to be made if there are any damages. I booked the inspection on the 7th of November, but no one came to do the inspection on the 14th of November. The inspection was only done on the 21st of November, after numerous calls of following up. I submitted forms for my refund, which was R2000 because of a sticker I left in my room, and for cleaning. I disputed the cleaning costs because when I moved out I left my room clean, and the communal spaces were clean when I moved out, but there was no one to inspect my room on the day I left. But no one responded to my dispute about the cleaning costs.

I submitted my refund request forms on the 21st or 22nd of November. The policy states that the refund will be processed and the money would have been in my account 21 to 30 days from when I submitted the forms. The money was supposed to be in my account latest on the 5th of January, but I haven't received it yet.

I called the campus key staff on the 3rd of January, and they told me they only processed my refund on the 22nd of December, but i can expect to receive the proof of payment around the 10th or 11th of December since it is still at Headoffice. But I still haven't heard anything from them.

Please help with further steps.
