Question posted in the Family Law category relating to Gauteng
Hi,
My boyfriends mother has been divorced twice. In her first maariage she had 2 children. The father has never paid maintanence. In her second marriage she had one more girl. Thye have been divorced for about 5-6 years. He has been paying maintenance, but not the full amount. She was unfortunately retrenched last year, so she has been without a job for bout 9 months now. The house her and her 3 kids are currently living in is half owned by her ex husband. Due to her not being able to find work, tehy have been living without electricity for a couple of months now. She went to teh muncipality and made a 'PAYING ARRANGEMENT' with them so they could have electricty again, her ex husband then went to them adn told them that it was fraud as it is his house so they must turn the power back off cause he didnt pay the power. She has been asking him to meet up since February so they can talk about selling the house as she wants to relocate to a family friend. He keeps ignoring her and she is struggling financially hence the reason she wants to sell the house and cut ties from him. Please advise what leg she has to stand on and what is the next step to take?
