Question posted in the Malpractice Law category relating to KwaZulu-Natal
I was referred to Albert Lhtuli by my GP for treatment on a malignant wound (Right Ankle).
Biopsy was performed ~ result,Ulcer & treated as such,a follow-up appointment was made.Sometime prior to the date I had to rebook as the wound was deteriorating.
A second biopsy was performed & result ~malignent.
Shortly after I was admitted for surgical removal.(+-70mmdia).
Hospitalised;+-4 months,healing time +- 5 months with weekly follow-up.
Radium treatment was then applied for 4 weeks(wound not totally healed)
+-3 months later wound deteriated,& readmitted for further surgical procedures.(excess radium treatment & destroyed tissue corpuscles behind the bone). Wound now +-200*70mm.
For the next 2 yrs spent 80% of my time hospitalised .lost count of surgical procedures at +- 28, which ended in amputation.Another yr for rehabilitation.
I'm now 58 yrs old,unemployed & disabled.
Do l have a case for malpractice or compensation?
I have a 100 page histology report & seek your expertise on evaluating my circumstance for compensation.
