Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng
We have rented a property with electricity included and after 13 months the landlord has suddenly decided we must pay for electricity and after numerous discussions he without notice sent his people to install a meter that i assume is pay as you need meter. he has informed us that we must buy the electicity from his daughter. This is unacceptable as it takes days to get any response from them and i can visualise us being without electicity on a regular basis. Unfortunately we do not have a writtin lease therefore I need to know our rights as they appear on the propety without advance warning.
