Question value: R 0.00
Today I got arrested for reporting a crime. Someone sold me a counterfeit item and at the time I didn’t see that it wasn’t okay until I got home. A few days later I met up with the sales person for him to take back the counterfeit item and give me my money back or at least give me the real item. He started fighting me, swearing at me calling me B* so because we were in public people suggested I called the cops because he is a fraudster and will most probably run away. I called the cops and they told me to go to the police station with him. When we arrived they took me straight to the cells and I got arrested and was told that I was being charged with possession with a stolen item even though it was me who called them and handed the item to them. They also called me an accomplice. I was told after two hours sitting in a cell that I should give them R2000 for my release. My mother paid the money because they told her that there are no court proceedings due to Covid19 so I’d only be released in October after the lockdown. I really just wanna know if I stand a chance if I fight this?
