I work as a pro shop assistant at a Golfing course.Currently we are on lockdown level 3 which means golf courses are still closed.My employer has asked me to come in for work every third day with a reduced salary from 8 to 4.We do not have permits to work so I told my employer I will not go in for work.He then sended me the following WhatsApp;"Thanks for responding Schalk but I’m afraid I don’t understand your circumstances! You have only been asked to work every third day with a reduced salary however we are all working every day and sometimes night with a reduced salary! With regards to the law.....you are allowed to work from home, and this is your home, so that ones not going to fly!Your rent and electricity is paid for by the company!The company have been paying a portion of your PGA qualification.The company have embarked on a restructuring process and many retrenchments are imminent and with unemployment set to rise significantly in the next few months, nows not the time to take this stance.If the data base had been done correctly as instructed when we took over, you wouldn’t have this massive task of updating it. I can easily turn around and say that you guys haven’t done your job!Happy to discuss this further in person."I receive a salary of R9 500 per month.Not sure what my next steps should be.Also I would just like to add that I do stay on the estate where the clubhouse is but dont agree that it can be said the clubhouse is my home for I dont live in the clubhouse.The Agreement of my PGA and accommodation is included in my contract.Thank you.
