Question posted in the Property Law category relating to Gauteng

Good day, I own a property management company specialising in student accommodation. I have a student who was being funded by a bursary company. The bursary company deposited his 1st semester rent into his personal account, at the end of the 1st semester. He defaulted on his payment and never paid his 6month rent, he spent the money for his own personal stuff. When I found out I evicted him. This student has no job, no guardian (he is an orphan), the bursary company won't take responsibility for payment as they say they have no contract with me.

I understand taking him to the small claims court is futile, because if I do get a judgement for him to pay him, he has no capacity to do so. What other legal action can I take? He owes me about R 14 000 .

Thank you
