Question posted in the Property Law category relating to Western Cape

Hi, hope you're well.

I'm an author and I was hoping to get some clarity on something. (I'm more than happy to credit the responder in my novel upon publishing.) Is it possible that an adult can inherit property from his/her parents yet be unable to sell it?

Specifically, could it be stated in their will that their child must keep the property within the family for whatever reason. And if so, must this be followed through.

If not, are there any circumstances in which someone would not be able to legally sell an inherited property?

Thank you.
