Question posted in the Landlord Tenant Law category relating to Gauteng
Long story short I rented a commercial property. The lessor did renovations in the agreement that I would pay 1000 rand extra on my monthly rental. The contract stated that I could give 3 months notice anytime over a 3 year contract. Due to variously reasons I gave 3 months notice at the end of my second month. They are now threatening to keep my deposit to cover the cost of renovations. It does not state anywhere in the contract that I am liable for this renovations. It simply states that my deposit will be returned after a specified period of time minus any repair work or outstanding rental fees. Will I win this case in a small claims court.
