my husband and i are co signers to a rental place me him and our kids occupy however he has left a month ago ,he paid this months half however he advises he will not pay half from next month im coompletly liable?

I am scared he may come in and hurt me sicne i started with divorce as he mentally not stable, can i get a protection order and with that is he still liable to pay his half?i am scared he may send in to landlord hes termination of lease and then i will be kicked out with kids as landlord agency has said my slaary alone does not qualify me to be able to enter a agreement without him .
