Question posted in the Criminal Law category relating to Gauteng
I am a UK citizen that was recently defrauded by a South African couple. Fortunately, I maintained a corpus of compelling evidence that demonstrated the crime clearly and I also did some research to discover previous victims of their business venture scam. Once I put the case together, I approached SAPS (via their email contact as directed by them). This was over 5 months ago. Despite numerous follow-ups, I have not received any information from them or any indication that they are looking at the case file I supplied. As I've lost faith in SAPS, I wanted to know if there is any way, within South Africa's legal framework, for an individual such as myself to take a criminal case straight to court without the assistance of SAPS. I believe that even without the involvement of SAPS, the evidence I have is compelling.
