Question posted in the Consumer Protection Law category relating to Western Cape
I bought a second-hand vehicle from a dealership in Cape Town in April for R130000. I am trying to resell the car now because I no longer have any use for it and it has been brought to my attention through various evaluators that there was work done on the exterior of the vehicle that wasnt disclosed when I purchased the vehicle. The car has been resprayed and that the windscreen was repaired.
This work that has been done on the car has significantly devalued the resale value of the car. When I confronted the dealership about this, they said they had no obligtion to disclose any work that was done to the car since it was a second hand car. Had they disclosed this information during the sale of the car, I would have absolutely not have purchased it.
They are now offering to repurchase the car for R100000 but I feel like thats not far.
Can I fight this matter legally?
