Hi,
I need help.
We started renting a flatlet two weeks ago and paid R2500 deposit. We are due to pay rent R2500 (WATER AND ELECTRICITY INCLUDED) on the 1st of May. The owner convinced us to move in earlier and only pay the R2500 deposit as he didnt want the place to stand empty. Yesterday 28 April we arrived home with no electricity. After speaking to the owner he told us that he is behind on his bill and that it would be sorted out today 29 April. Now at 16:00 I get a hand written letter from his daughter in law stating that they have paid R3000 towards the bill but still need to pay R5000 in oder for it to be switched on. She also states that the are only getting money on the 1st of May and that she is sorry but there will be no electricity till then.
Im feeling nervous as to wheter this is a recurring happening?!!? What If we pay rent on Friday and still have no electricity?
We now have to drive to my mom's house 10km away to bath and buy food. Stuff we didint bargain for?
What to do? Do we have any foot to stand on?
I need help.
