Question posted in the Divorce Law category relating to Gauteng
Hello,
I'm a South African married to a Taiwanese man (formerly South African, but now only has Taiwanese citizenship).
We were marrien in SA 34 years ago, but have lived in Taiwan for 24 years. We have been separated for 5 months - I left due to domestic violence. I have asked him for a divorce which would be easy to obtain is we both consent. However, he refuses. The divorce laws in Taiwan are tough, and it would be a long expensive process. Is there any possiblity that I could file in SA, or would I have to live in SA for a certain period before I could file?
Thank you.
